A LITTLE MORE ABOUT PEAS

Although its origin is unknown, it is believed to come from the area between the mediterranean sea, the middle east and the southern part of Asia.

It is one of the oldest plants grown, there are written references to peas which date back to the Neolitic peoples of this area between 6000 and 7000 BC.

Nowadays it is grown in almost all warm regions of the world. The main producers are United States, India, Russia, France, and Great Britain.

NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION

Green pea is one of the vegetables which contains the highest level off carbohydrates and protein in a weight unit. It is an important source of sacarose and aminoacids including lisine. It has an important amount of minerals (P and Fe) and vitamins, mainly B1.
